Bons Gateaux
A moment to unwind in the city.
A Western-style confectionery in Komagome with a classic cafe tearoom at the back. Bons Gateaux serves everything from showcase cakes and savarins to Neapolitan spaghetti, hamburg steaks, parfaits, and soft-serve ice cream.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
With colourful cakes displayed in the front showcase, Bons Gateaux operates not only as a takeaway confectionery but also features a spacious cafe salon tucked away in the back. Bathed in the warm glow of yellow lighting, the relaxed interior invites visitors to spend their time freely throughout the day, whether stopping in for morning toast, a hearty Western-style lunch, or an afternoon sweet.
For a sit-down meal, the lunch sets complete with salad, a beverage, and dessert are an easy first choice. The savoury, ketchup-rich flavours of classic Neapolitan spaghetti share the menu with meat sauce pasta, shrimp pilaf, and dry curry—all cornerstones of traditional Japanese kissaten cooking. Heartier appetites can turn to beef stew or teriyaki and grated-daikon Japanese-style hamburg steaks, each served with a choice of bread or rice. Meals wrap up pleasantly with the included dessert of soft-serve ice cream or scoop ice cream.
Tea time is best enjoyed with a cake set, pairing any slice chosen directly from the front display with coffee, tea, or cafe au lait. Gentle shortcakes and liquor-scented savarins sit alongside classic cafe sweets like pudding royale, fruit parfaits, and anmitsu. Ordering a bright melon cream soda or cola float topped with ice cream deepens the nostalgic tearoom atmosphere.
Early in the day, morning sets featuring toast or pancakes served with a drink and yoghurt provide a comforting local routine. Situated on a corner just off the shopping street near the east exit of Komagome Station, the shop accepts cash only. It is an unpretentious stop where you can pause for tea and cake mid-walk, or pick up your favourite baked treats to take home.
